Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, May 2026 — Rahul Ranjan has been elevated to the role of Senior Director, Procurement at Flipkart, marking a significant milestone in his leadership journey within one of India’s most influential digital commerce platforms.
In his expanded role, Rahul will continue to lead large-scale procurement strategies, driving efficiency, innovation, and sustainability across infrastructure, automation, and supply chain ecosystems that power Flipkart’s extensive operations.
Rahul has been associated with Flipkart for over five years, most recently serving as Director – Procurement Infrastructure and Packaging. In this role, he managed procurement spends of up to USD 200 million annually, overseeing complex categories including greenfield warehouse development, brownfield expansion projects across India, and large-scale warehouse automation systems such as conveyor networks, sortation systems, and AGV/AMR-based solutions.
During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in scaling Flipkart’s infrastructure, including the procurement for over 500 dark stores across India and the development of feeder warehouse networks. He also led strategic initiatives such as building global vendor ecosystems, driving sustainability through circular economy practices, and leveraging AI-led procurement transformation to enhance operational efficiency.
Prior to joining Flipkart, Rahul spent over two decades with the Government of India, where he held multiple leadership roles in procurement, supply chain, and program management. As Director – Procurement for Engineering Equipment, he led pan-India delivery of critical infrastructure projects, managing high-value programs and earning recognition for delivering cost efficiencies and resolving complex operational challenges.
Earlier, he served as Head of Programs, Procurement and Supply Chain, leading large engineering units and driving execution excellence across high-impact national initiatives. His career also includes roles in strategy, logistics, training, and infrastructure procurement, where he was recognized for leadership in crisis management and operational coordination.
Rahul has recently completed the Advanced Program in AI for Leaders from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, strengthening his expertise in leveraging artificial intelligence for strategic business transformation.
With nearly three decades of experience across public and private sector ecosystems, Rahul brings deep expertise in large-scale procurement, infrastructure development, supply chain transformation, and AI-led innovation. His elevation reflects Flipkart’s continued focus on building resilient, technology-driven procurement capabilities to support its rapidly expanding operations.
