Adelaide, South Australia, Australia, May 2026 – Adelaide University has announced the appointment of Joanne Fox as Deputy Vice Chancellor – People and Culture, strengthening its leadership team as it advances its vision of becoming a global employer of choice.
Joanne Fox brings over three decades of experience in leading people strategy and transformation across large, complex organizations. In her new role, she will play a pivotal role in shaping Adelaide University’s culture, driving organizational transformation, and supporting its long-term strategic ambitions.
She joins Adelaide University from National Intermodal Corporation, where she served as Chief Corporate Affairs and People Officer. Throughout her career, she has held senior leadership roles across ASX-listed organizations spanning industries such as FMCG, pharmaceuticals, oil and gas, and energy—bringing a broad, cross-sector perspective to people and culture leadership.
An alumna of the University of South Australia and a graduate of University of Cambridge’s Advanced Leadership Program, Joanne is also a member of Chief Executive Women and serves on the People and Safety Advisory Board Committee for the Sarah Group.
Commenting on her appointment, Nicola Phillips highlighted Joanne’s passion for enabling transformation through people and culture, noting that her leadership will be instrumental in creating sustainable, high-performing, and healthy organizational environments.
Joanne Fox expressed her enthusiasm about joining Adelaide University at a defining moment in its journey, emphasizing her commitment to shaping culture and designing sustainable people strategies that support the institution’s global ambitions.
The university also acknowledged the contributions of Paul Hutchinson, who will continue in the interim role until Joanne Fox formally assumes her position in August 2026.
