Andrea Himmelbauer Appointed as Chief People Officer at AstroPay

London, United Kingdom, June 2025 – Andrea Himmelbauer has been appointed as the new Chief People Officer at AstroPay, a global digital wallet and fintech platform. In this role, Andrea will lead AstroPay’s global people strategy, focusing on scalable culture-building, talent development, and creating an inclusive and high-performing workplace for a globally distributed workforce.

Prior to joining AstroPay, Andrea Himmelbauer served as Culture & People Lead at Mettle, a digital business account platform. Over nearly four years, she played a key role in shaping hybrid work culture, fostering employee engagement, and aligning HR processes with business values. Simultaneously, she held the role of People & Culture Lead at NatWest Boxed, where she scaled the organization from 100 to 650 employees across the UK and Poland. Her work included driving diversity and inclusion metrics, designing career frameworks, and transforming the HR team into strategic business partners.

Before this, Andrea served as Director, People Operations at Arcus, a Mastercard company. In this role, she led the development of HR functions during a phase of rapid growth, built the first performance review process, and strengthened the organization’s values and leadership development initiatives.

Andrea’s earlier career at Grupo Modelo, ZX Ventures, and AB InBev encompassed a range of impactful roles, including Manager, Talent Management and HR Business Partner. She led award-winning diversity and inclusion projects, implemented performance management systems across multiple countries, and helped launch HR capabilities for start-up businesses in Mexico under the ZX Ventures banner.

Her contributions have consistently been recognized for advancing employee experience, aligning HR with business strategy, and transforming organizational culture across Latin America and Europe.

Matthew Breitfelder is Partner and Global Head of Human Capital at Apollo, where he focuses on attracting extraordinary talent to the firm and creating an innovative, inclusive, high-performance culture that brings out the best in Apollo’s people. Matt leads Apollo’s recruiting, talent management, compensation, succession planning, citizenship, employee relations, development, and culture work. He is also a member of the firm’s Leadership Team. Matt is committed to expanding opportunities across Apollo’s workplace, marketplace, and communities. Prior to joining Apollo, Matt was Chief Talent Officer at BlackRock as well as a member of the Operating Committee. Previously, he held strategy, talent, and innovation roles at Mastercard, PwC, and CEB/Gartner.

Matt holds a BA in Economics from the University of Southern California, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently serves on the boards of the Lumina Foundation, the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society program, the Milken Institute’s Inclusive Capitalism initiative, and Georgetown University’s initiative on AI, Analytics, and the Future of Work. He is the co-author of numerous Harvard Business School case studies and articles on leadership. Matt has been recognized as a Top Global CHRO multiple times by n2Growth and Stanford Business School.
