Boston, Massachusetts, June 2026 — Care Lumen has appointed John Puopolo as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO), strengthening its executive leadership team as the healthcare technology company accelerates its mission of transforming care coordination, clinical workflows, and patient outcomes through intelligent, data-driven solutions.
Puopolo joins Care Lumen with more than three decades of leadership experience spanning healthcare technology, software engineering, cloud transformation, enterprise platforms, artificial intelligence, analytics, and digital innovation. In his new role, he will lead the company’s technology vision, product innovation, engineering strategy, and platform development efforts as Care Lumen continues to build next-generation solutions that connect patients, providers, care teams, and healthcare data ecosystems.
His appointment comes at a time when healthcare organizations are increasingly investing in digital transformation, interoperability, predictive analytics, and AI-powered care delivery models. With deep expertise in scaling technology organizations and building mission-critical healthcare platforms, Puopolo is expected to play a pivotal role in advancing Care Lumen’s growth strategy and innovation agenda.
As healthcare systems worldwide face mounting pressure to improve outcomes, reduce administrative burdens, and deliver more personalized care experiences, technology leadership has become a critical business differentiator.
Puopolo’s extensive background in healthcare technology, cloud modernization, data platforms, and enterprise software positions Care Lumen to strengthen its capabilities in care coordination, clinical intelligence, workflow automation, and patient engagement. His experience leading technology transformations across healthcare, life sciences, and digital platforms aligns closely with Care Lumen’s vision of creating more connected and intelligent healthcare experiences.
The appointment also reflects Care Lumen’s commitment to combining clinical expertise with advanced technology capabilities to address some of healthcare’s most pressing challenges.
Prior to joining Care Lumen, Puopolo served as Chief Technology Officer at itel, where he led technology strategy and innovation for the property insurance claims technology provider.
Earlier, he was Chief Technology Officer at CorEvitas, a leading healthcare evidence-generation and patient registry organization that was subsequently acquired by Thermo Fisher Scientific. There, he oversaw engineering, cloud infrastructure, enterprise platforms, and technology modernization initiatives supporting healthcare and life sciences clients globally.
Before CorEvitas, he spent more than five years as Senior Vice President, Engineering at Eliza Corporation, leading software engineering, cloud operations, business intelligence, DevOps, analytics, and enterprise technology transformation initiatives. His accomplishments included migrating enterprise workloads to AWS, implementing modern cloud architectures, strengthening cybersecurity frameworks, and expanding advanced analytics capabilities.
Puopolo has also held senior technology leadership roles at Best Doctors, ViewDo Labs, RapidBuyr, and Tele Atlas, where he led global engineering teams and delivered large-scale SaaS, enterprise software, and data-driven technology platforms.
In addition to his executive responsibilities, he serves on the Board of Directors of the Copyright Clearance Center (CCC), contributes to the Harvard Business Review Advisory Council, advises emerging technology ventures through Vation Ventures, and has taught computer science as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Massachusetts.
