Desiree Blankenship Appointed as Chief Human Resources Officer at Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP

Columbus, Ohio, United States, January 2026 – Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP has announced the appointment of Desiree Blankenship as its new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). In this role, she will lead the firm’s people strategy, talent development, and human capital governance, supporting Taft’s continued growth and commitment to delivering exceptional client service through a collaborative and high-performing culture.

Desiree Blankenship joins Taft with a rare combination of deep legal expertise and senior-level human resources leadership. She spent over 11 years with the Ohio State Bar Association, where she concurrently served as General Counsel and Human Resources Director. In this dual capacity, she oversaw professional responsibility, legal governance, and strategic HR leadership, playing a pivotal role in talent development and organizational effectiveness.

Earlier, Desiree held senior public-sector leadership roles with the Ohio Department of Commerce, serving as Assistant Director and Chief Legal Counsel, where she advised on regulatory, compliance, and administrative matters. Her tenure strengthened her experience at the intersection of policy, people, and institutional governance.

She also spent nearly eight years with the Ohio Auditor of State, progressing through roles including Deputy Chief Legal Counsel and Assistant Chief Legal Counsel. During this period, she developed extensive expertise in public accountability, legal risk management, and leadership advisory, contributing to large-scale organizational oversight and compliance frameworks.

Across her career, Desiree has consistently operated at the convergence of law, governance, and human resources, positioning her well to guide Taft’s workforce strategy in a complex and evolving legal services environment.

Education

Desiree Blankenship holds a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from Capital University Law School, providing a strong legal foundation that underpins her approach to human capital leadership and organizational stewardship.
