New Jersey, United States, August 2024 – Joel Gokool has taken on the position of Chief of Human Resources at NJ TRANSIT, where he will oversee the development and implementation of HR strategies to support the organization’s mission of providing efficient transportation services across New Jersey. Joel’s extensive experience in human resources, leadership development, and cultural transformation will be key to advancing NJ TRANSIT’s HR functions and fostering a positive workplace environment.
Before stepping into his new role, Joel served as the Head of Human Resources at the Gateway Development Commission (GDC) for approximately 1 year and 7 months. In this capacity, he was instrumental in driving leadership development, cultural transformation, and compensation structures, contributing significantly to the organization’s HR policies and overall strategy.
Prior to his tenure at GDC, Joel was the Deputy Chief of Human Resources at NJ TRANSIT for about 1 year and 6 months. During this period, he was responsible for setting the direction and goals for talent acquisition, employee engagement, and organizational design, positioning NJ TRANSIT as a leader in talent acquisition and HR strategy.
Joel also spent nearly 12 years with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), where he held various HR roles, including leading People Analytics and HR Transformation efforts for 6 years. His work at MTA involved developing organizational effectiveness programs, managing HR service delivery to a large workforce, and supporting strategic HR initiatives across the organization.
