In a significant addition to its leadership team, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) is delighted to welcome Phoebe Chandler as the new Chief People Officer. This announcement comes as Chandler takes on the role with an impressive background in human resources, leadership advisory, and strategic development spanning several years and multiple high-profile companies across the globe.
Before her latest appointment at NZTE, Chandler honed her skills and expertise through a series of progressively senior roles. As Director of People Advisory Services at NZTE itself, Chandler was instrumental in shaping the organization’s people strategy, underscoring her deep understanding of the company’s mission and values. Her leadership prowess was further solidified through her advisory role at Lewis Silkin in London, where she collaborated with the Operations Board to redefine workplace strategies and implement agile working practices.
Chandler’s tenure as Head of People – Employee Experience at JCDecaux in London stands out as a period where she significantly contributed to enhancing employee experiences and fostering a culture of engagement and high performance. This role, coupled with her earlier positions as Senior HR Business Partner and People Business Partner – Sales and Marketing at the same company, highlighted her ability to drive strategic HR initiatives and support organizational transformation.
Her experience is further complemented by impactful roles at White Stuff and Jaeger, where Chandler delivered comprehensive people services that drove high performance and employee engagement. At McDonald’s Corporation in Auckland, she demonstrated her generalist HR capabilities, focusing on talent development, employment relations, and innovative people practices.
