Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, November 2025 – Sandiep Batra has been appointed as the President & Chief Human Resources Officer – Steel Corporate at JSW Steel, marking a significant addition to the company’s leadership team. With nearly three decades of experience across airports, digital services, telecom, retail, manufacturing, and defense, he brings a rare blend of strategic HR capability, transformation leadership, and operational depth. His appointment reinforces JSW Steel’s commitment to building a future-focused, capability-driven workforce aligned with its ambitious growth and expansion agenda.
Sandiep most recently served as Chief Human Resources Officer at Adani Airport Holdings Ltd, where he led people strategy across eight airports and multiple joint ventures spanning retail, F&B, and lounges. His tenure was marked by large-scale transformation, organization effectiveness, and strengthening of people systems across a rapidly evolving business portfolio. Prior to this, he served as Group CHRO & Head Foundation at Landmark Group, leading the HR agenda across six business verticals with a workforce of over 16,000 employees, while also stewarding the company’s CSR and sustainability portfolio.
Before his time at Landmark Group, Sandiep shaped extensive HR transformation and digital HR capabilities during his leadership roles at Vodafone Idea Limited. As Executive Vice President and Head HR for Enterprise Business, Digital and Technology, he led business partnering, workforce dimensioning, talent management, digital HR transformation, capability-building programs, organization design, and rewards architecture. His earlier leadership mandate at Vodafone India as Senior Vice President & Chief Talent Officer and Lead M&A, and subsequently as HR Head – Corporate and HRBP for Technology Centre and Support Functions, strengthened his depth in leadership hiring, performance management, capability development, culture integration, and post-merger HR strategy.
In the earlier stages of his career, Sandiep held senior leadership positions at Bharti Teletech Limited, where he oversaw end-to-end HR and quality operations across India and China, followed by impactful HR leadership roles at Cendant Corporation, Sona Koyo Steering Systems Ltd, and a distinguished early career as a Commissioned Officer in the Indian Army. These foundational experiences shaped his disciplined, people-centric, and operationally strong leadership style, enabling him to manage large, diverse, and complex workforces across industries.
Sandiep’s educational journey includes advanced professional learning from Cornell University in HR Transformation, HR Strategy, Design Thinking, and Talent Analytics, alongside a PGDBM in Strategy and Leadership from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. His academic grounding further strengthens his ability to lead large-scale people transformation at JSW Steel.
