Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, July 2025 — Ajay Kumar Shrivastava has been appointed as Director (Engineering and R&D) at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). His elevation is a recognition of his distinguished 37-year career at HAL, which began in 1987 as a Management Trainee (Technical) and has since spanned multiple leadership roles and strategic contributions to India’s aerospace sector.
Most recently, Shrivastava served as Executive Director at HAL’s Aircraft Research & Design Centre (ARDC), where he played a pivotal role in advancing indigenous aircraft development. His technical leadership was instrumental in key avionics upgrade programs for platforms such as HS-748, Do-228, Sea King, and IL-78, and in achieving DGCA Type Certification for India’s first indigenous civil aircraft—the Do-228 and Hindustan-228.
Throughout his career at HAL, Shrivastava has exemplified commitment to innovation, engineering excellence, and national capability-building in aerospace. His elevation to the Board is a strategic move as HAL continues to expand its R&D footprint in both defence and civil aviation domains.
An alumnus of Harcourt Butler Technological Institute (HBTI), Kanpur, Shrivastava also holds a Master’s in Aviation Safety and Aircraft Airworthiness from ENAC/ENSICA, Toulouse, France. He is a Project Management Professional (PMP) and IPMA Level C Certified, and was honoured with the FASIA (French Aeronautics & Space Industry Award) for his contributions to aviation.
