Tokyo, Japan, February 2026 — Astellas Pharma has announced the appointment of Anjana Harve as its new Chief Digital Officer, marking a significant step in strengthening the company’s digital and technology leadership as it continues to advance patient-centric innovation globally.
Anjana brings over 25 years of executive leadership experience across pharmaceuticals, medical devices, healthcare services, and retail. She is widely recognized for leading large-scale digital and technology transformations that deliver measurable business outcomes while improving patient and customer impact. Known for inspiring teams and driving meaningful change, Anjana firmly believes that data and information, when applied with purpose, can become a powerful competitive differentiator.
Prior to joining Astellas, Anjana Harve has been serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer at BJ’s Wholesale Club, where she leads enterprise-wide technology strategy for one of the largest membership-based retail organizations in the United States. Alongside this role, she serves as a Supervisory Board Member at Wolters Kluwer, contributing to governance and remuneration oversight for a global organization with a market capitalization exceeding $35 billion.

Earlier, Anjana held the role of Global Chief Information Officer at Fresenius Medical Care, where she was accountable for executing digital strategies to enhance business outcomes and improve patient experience across a €20 billion global enterprise. Her leadership played a key role in modernizing technology platforms in support of chronic care delivery worldwide.
Before Fresenius, she served as Chief Information Officer at Hill-Rom, leading major digital transformations to advance connected care, elevate customer engagement, and digitize operations. She also spent several years at Novartis, where she held senior global roles including Global Head, Commercial IT Services and Compliance, and CIO Americas at Alcon, driving IT strategy across complex, highly regulated commercial markets.
Earlier in her career, Anjana held technology leadership roles at Shire and CSL Behring, where she built global IT capabilities aligned tightly with business and R&D priorities. She also brings strong board and ecosystem engagement through leadership roles with Extraordinary Women on Boards (EWOB), T200, and the Society of Information Management (SIM).
Anjana Harve holds an MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering from Bangalore University.
