Palan R.C., a distinguished educator and entrepreneur, embodies a commitment to lifelong learning and transformative leadership. Guided by the principle, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams,” Palan has spent over 45 years driving intergenerational mobility through education and entrepreneurship. A global citizen with Malaysian and Nagrathar Tamil Indian roots, Palan has traveled to more than 45 countries, enriching his perspective and championing the value of diversity.
As the Pro-Chancellor of the University of Cyberjaya, Palan plays a pivotal role in shaping a 5-star institution that excels in health sciences and global education. He is also the Founder of the Palan Foundation, an organization dedicated to accessible education for underserved communities, and has co-founded two public companies in Malaysia—SMRT Technologies Berhad and Cyberjaya Education Group Berhad. Throughout his career, Palan has authored 21 books, sharing insights on personal growth, leadership, and human resource development.
Palan’s impressive educational journey spans institutions like Federation University Australia, where he earned a Ph.D. in Education, Harvard Business School, where he completed multiple executive programs, and the University of Leicester, where he pursued an MSc in Psychology. His early academic foundation includes a Master’s in Medical and Psychiatric Social Work and a Bachelor's in Chemistry from the University of Madras.
With expertise in corporate governance, human resource strategy, and entrepreneurship, Palan has also served as Chairperson of UM Specialist Centre and Chairman of SMRT Holdings Berhad, leveraging his leadership to impact technology, education, and healthcare sectors. His passion for creating opportunities and empowering others remains at the heart of his professional legacy.
