Sweden, November 2025 — Lignin Industries AB has announced the appointment of Carolina Santos Murray as Chief Commercial & Business Development Officer, marking a significant step in the company’s ongoing global expansion within the greentech and bio-materials sector. In this expanded leadership role, she will drive commercial strategy, growth initiatives, partnerships, and global business development as Lignin continues to scale its patented technology converting lignin into renewable, fossil-free biomaterials.
Before this elevation, Carolina served as Chief Strategy & Business Development Officer at Lignin Industries AB, where she successfully shaped strategic direction, strengthened the company’s commercial roadmap, and elevated its positioning within the global sustainability and bio-innovation ecosystem. Her leadership was central to accelerating Lignin’s broader transformation agenda and building a strong foundation for long-term growth.
Earlier, Carolina spent nearly seven years at Business Sweden, most recently as Program Manager, Pioneer the Fossil Free, leading a national initiative to accelerate Sweden’s global climate solutions export and attract foreign investments for Sweden’s 2045 fossil-free target. She coordinated a steering committee comprising ~20 of Sweden’s most innovative organizations, creating Sweden’s climate promotional agenda and strengthening its global climate leadership. Prior to this, she was Senior Project Manager in the Greater Tokyo Area, advising Swedish companies on Japan expansion strategies, handling the most complex strategic accounts, shaping internal strategy and sales processes, and co-founding the Nordic Innovation House Tokyo to support Nordic start-ups entering Japan.
Her earlier roles at Business Sweden as Project Manager in Tokyo included leading the largest Sweden–Japan delegation in history, involving 150 senior business leaders, ministers, and the Swedish Royal Family. She managed a three-day, multi-track program commemorating 150 years of diplomatic relations and showcasing Sweden’s innovation and commercial capabilities to Japan and the world.
Before entering the public–private partnership and internationalization domain, Carolina held senior roles at GodEl i Sverige AB including Head of Strategy and Business Development, Acting Head of Sales, and roles in business development. Earlier in her career, she worked as a Management Consultant at McKinsey & Company, advising clients across energy, pulp & paper, transportation, heavy machinery, life sciences, consumer products, retail, and corporate strategy.
