Perth, Western Australia, Australia, September 2025 – Fortuna Advisory Group has announced the appointment of Christopher Straughan as its new Chief People Officer. In this leadership role, Christopher will spearhead people strategy, capability development, and cultural transformation to further strengthen Fortuna’s position as one of Australia’s most awarded professional services firms.
Christopher most recently served as Managing Director at Fortuna People Solutions, where he drove human capital consulting initiatives for clients across diverse industries. Alongside this, he has been contributing to the sports sector as an Independent Director at Diving WA, where he continues to provide strategic guidance on governance and people capability.
Before this, he held the position of Manager: People & Capability at Serco, where he oversaw workforce management, talent development, and HR operations, delivering large-scale people solutions in a complex services environment. He also served as a Non-Executive Board Member at Ageing with Grace, supporting governance and HR best practices in the aged care sector.
Earlier, Christopher spent more than three years with Indus Mining, where he advanced from Group Manager of Human Resources to Principal HR Consultant, leading people operations and providing workforce strategies for large-scale mining projects. He also worked with the Craig Mostyn Group as Group Manager: Human Resources, and before that, as Manager of Human Resources for the Asia Pacific at Hoover Ferguson, where he managed HR across Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, and New Zealand.
Christopher’s career also includes leadership roles at IGA Supermarkets as Group Manager: Capability and Culture, Karara Mining Limited as Superintendent: Human Resources, and G&S Engineering Services as Manager: Workforce Planning. He started his HR leadership journey with Newmont Australia, where he spent over three years as a Senior Human Resources Specialist, gaining hands-on experience in workforce engagement and development in the mining sector.
