Richmond, Virginia, United States, March 2025 – Christy L. Roberson has been appointed as the Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer at Virginia Farm Bureau Family of Companies. In her new role, she will provide strategic leadership for HR operations across all group entities, overseeing key areas such as employee engagement, compensation, benefits, performance management, compliance, wellness, and succession planning, and driving the company’s long-term talent strategies.
Roberson brings over two decades of rich experience across public, private, and nonprofit sectors. Most recently, she served as Division Director, Senior – HR at the Virginia Department of Social Services, leading HR initiatives for over 11,000 employees across the state. Her leadership encompassed the full spectrum of HR services, including benefits, payroll, policy, and executive compensation.
Previously, she held the role of Vice President, Global Human Resources at the International Mission Board, where she led a globally distributed team of 189 people supporting over 4,000 employees in 35 countries. Her work included leading US and international HR, compliance, clinical and pastoral care services, and HR operations for the organization’s humanitarian arm, Send Relief.
Earlier, Roberson served as Vice President, Human Resources at Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia, managing HR, Diversity and Inclusion, and Learning and Development across a multi-location footprint. She played a key role in implementing training programs for both internal staff and community job seekers, and led initiatives in total rewards, compliance, and performance management.
She has also held senior roles at Capital One, where she spent over 16 years in leadership positions across HR client consulting, compensation, and operations, and earlier held roles at Partners in Pediatrics and Circuit City, contributing significantly to strategic HR, communications, and operational planning.
Roberson’s diverse experience and deep commitment to community-oriented organizations make her well-positioned to drive talent innovation at Virginia Farm Bureau as it continues to expand its statewide presence and support Virginia’s agricultural and rural communities.
