Chicago, Illinois, United States, March 2026 — Daminda Kumara has started a new role as Vice President, Global Air Logistics Semicon and Cloud Operations at Kuehne+Nagel, further strengthening the company’s leadership in specialized air logistics operations.
In his new global mandate at Kuehne+Nagel, Daminda will oversee air logistics solutions for semiconductor and cloud operations segments, focusing on operational excellence, customer-centric execution, supply chain optimization, and global coordination across high-value and time-critical shipments. His role includes driving innovation, enhancing service reliability, and aligning global air freight strategies with evolving technology and cloud infrastructure demands.
Prior to joining Kuehne+Nagel, Daminda served as Director of Operations at DSV – Global Transport and Logistics, where he managed air freight operations and business development initiatives in Chicago.
He previously spent over 18 years at DB Schenker, holding multiple senior leadership roles across the United States, Middle East, Africa, and Asia. As Director Operations Center, Airfreight, USA, he carried high-level P&L accountability, overseeing planning, budgeting, execution, and control of client-facing logistics functions. He partnered closely with Product and Commercial teams to drive account growth and financial performance, led organizational development initiatives, and strengthened global stakeholder collaboration to deliver value-driven logistics solutions.
Earlier, as Head of Air Freight Operations & Procurement – Middle East & Africa, he managed strategic airline partnerships, charter agreements, and regional procurement strategies. Notable achievements included leading the onboarding of the Hope Consortium and developing a COVID-19 Vaccination HUB solution across the MEA region, as well as implementing innovative hub solutions in Oman, South Africa, and Kenya to enhance logistics capabilities.
His earlier tenure as Head of Air Freight in Dubai saw him accountable for financial performance and country-level strategy execution, including product development, preferred carrier management, operational excellence initiatives, and digital process transformation. His career foundation includes progressive operational roles at Cargo Plan International Ltd and BAX Global.
With more than two decades of global logistics leadership experience, Daminda Kumara brings deep expertise in air freight strategy, P&L management, global stakeholder alignment, and high-performance logistics operations—positioning him strongly to lead Kuehne+Nagel’s semiconductor and cloud air logistics segment.
