London, England, United Kingdom, April 2025 – David Colgan has stepped into the role of Head of People & Culture – ExCeL London Hospitality at Compass Group UK & Ireland, marking a new chapter in his nearly decade-long journey with the organization. In this role, David will be responsible for leading the people strategy, enhancing workplace culture, and empowering teams across one of London’s most iconic venues.
Before this elevation, David served as Head of People Operations – ExCeL Exhibition Centre for almost four years. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in implementing people-first operational models, strengthening staff engagement, and aligning HR initiatives with large-scale hospitality delivery at international events and exhibitions hosted at ExCeL.
Previously, David held positions including People Operations Manager and Staffing Manager, where he developed innovative staffing solutions and optimized workforce planning for high-traffic hospitality operations. He also took on a Regional Operations Manager role on secondment at Constellation, contributing to wider strategic goals within the Compass Group network during a crucial time for post-pandemic hospitality recovery.
Before joining Compass Group, David worked at Delaware North, holding several roles including Staffing Officer, Assistant Recruitment Manager, and Special Events Coordinator. He began his career in hospitality as a Front of House Assistant, gaining frontline exposure that continues to shape his empathetic leadership approach today.
