Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India, September 2025 – HCLTech, a leading global technology company, has announced the appointment of Amitabh Kant as an Independent Director with effect from September 8, 2025.
Amitabh Kant is a distinguished public policy reformer and governance leader, most recently known for his pivotal role as India’s G20 Sherpa. Under his leadership during India’s G20 Presidency (2022–2023), the New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration was unanimously adopted—marking a diplomatic success that emphasized India’s global leadership in digital public infrastructure, climate finance reforms, technology governance, and geopolitical consensus-building.
During his notable public service career, Kant held key positions, including CEO of NITI Aayog, where he led transformative initiatives like the Aspirational Districts Program, aimed at uplifting India’s most backward districts through competitive governance and impact-driven interventions.
He has also served as Secretary, Department for Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), CEO of Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (DMICDC), and Secretary, Tourism, Government of Kerala. His legacy includes launching globally acclaimed campaigns like ‘God’s Own Country’ and ‘Incredible India’, as well as key national initiatives like Startup India, Make in India, and Ease of Doing Business reforms.
