Banjul, The Gambia, December 2025 — Isatou Conateh has been appointed as Head of Human Resources at Access Bank Gambia, strengthening the bank’s leadership team as it continues to expand its retail, commercial and digital banking footprint across The Gambia and the wider West African region. In her new role, Conateh will lead human capital strategy, organisational effectiveness, compliance alignment and workforce development for the rapidly growing banking institution.
Most recently, Conateh served as Head of Financial Crime Compliance at Standard Chartered Bank for over three years, where she led financial crime risk governance, regulatory compliance, AML frameworks and internal control strengthening across the Gambian market.
Before this, she was Financial Crime Compliance Manager at Standard Chartered Bank for nearly four years, playing a critical role in regulatory alignment, audit readiness, and strengthening operational risk frameworks.
Earlier, she served in Financial Control roles at Guaranty Trust Bank (Gambia) Ltd, building expertise in financial governance, reporting discipline and internal control processes within the banking sector.
Conateh also brings strong international finance operations experience from her tenure as Senior Credit Settlement Accountant at WorldPay, where she managed settlement operations, reconciliation frameworks and cross-border transaction accuracy.
She began her professional career at American Software as Senior Revenue Accountant, gaining early exposure to corporate accounting, revenue governance and financial controls.
Alongside her corporate leadership journey, Conateh is also the Founder & CEO of IC Business Solutions, where she has built a successful advisory firm delivering payroll, tax, accounting, business consultancy, software implementation and training services for organisations across The Gambia.
