Nairobi, Kenya, July 2025 – Jane Muiruri has been promoted to Chief Human Resources Officer at Nation Media Group (NMG), East and Central Africa’s largest independent media house. In her elevated role, Jane will oversee the Group’s comprehensive people strategy, with a focus on leadership development, organizational transformation, and aligning HR practices with the Group’s pan-African media vision.
Jane brings over twelve years of experience at NMG, where she has been a pivotal force in transforming HR strategy and culture. Most recently, she served as Head of HR for nearly five years, leading initiatives in talent development, organizational design, total rewards, and strategic change. She also served as Acting Head of HR during a critical period of transition and previously held the position of Senior HR Manager, where she designed and implemented HR strategies to drive engagement, retention, and productivity across Kenya.
Alongside her executive responsibilities, Jane has gained wide recognition as the voice behind the popular “Ask HR” column in the Daily Nation’s MyNetwork magazine, offering career and workplace advice since 2016. Her dual role as a columnist and practitioner has made her a trusted thought leader in the HR field.
Before joining NMG, Jane held the role of Human Resources Business Partner for the East Africa Cluster at Nestlé, where she was responsible for people strategy across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda. She also worked as Regional HR Business Partner at Plan International, supporting 12 countries in Eastern and Southern Africa to roll out the Global People Strategy. Her early career includes impactful HR leadership roles at DHL as HR Manager for East Africa, and as an HR Officer at Safari Park Hotel.
Jane holds an MBA in Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi, and brings a strong foundation in strategic HR, coaching and mentoring, talent development, and global HR management.
