Austin, TX, United States – November 2024 – Jay Carter has been named Vice President – Global People and Talent at Outdoorsy, a leader in experiential outdoor travel. In his new position, Jay will drive the people and talent strategy across Outdoorsy’s global operations, overseeing initiatives to enhance workforce engagement, talent acquisition, and organizational culture as the company advances its mission to bring the benefits of nature to people worldwide.
Jay has been with Outdoorsy for nearly two years, initially joining as People Operations Business Partner and progressing through senior roles, including Director of People Operations and Talent Acquisition and Senior Director of People and Talent. In these roles, he focused on optimizing workforce planning, managing HR operations, and implementing Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) strategies, as well as benefits administration and policy development, helping to build a strong foundation for Outdoorsy’s people operations.
Before joining Outdoorsy, Jay was a Store Leader and District D&I Manager at Warby Parker, where he led workforce planning, employee engagement, and diversity initiatives across multiple locations. He also contributed to workforce development as Executive Team Lead, Human Resources (HR Manager) at Target, supporting 126 locations across the Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi regions. Earlier in his career, Jay held various leadership roles, including Manager at The Buckle, Inc. and Executive Team Lead Human Resources at Target, where he gained valuable insights into talent acquisition and operational efficiency.
