Chingola, Copperbelt Province, Zambia, February 2026 — Prakash Gopakumar has taken over as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at Konkola Copper Mines plc, marking a significant leadership appointment within the organisation’s commercial and supply chain function.
In his new role, Prakash is responsible for leading the end-to-end commercial value chain at Konkola Copper Mines, including procurement, supply chain, logistics, sales and marketing, and commercial governance. His focus includes strengthening commercial frameworks, enhancing supplier partnerships, optimising logistics networks, and enabling value-driven customer engagement to support operational and financial performance.
Prakash brings extensive global experience across mining, metals, and large-scale industrial operations. Prior to this appointment, he served as Chief Commercial Officer at Vedanta Limited – Aluminium Business, where he led strategic procurement, sourcing transformation, ESG-aligned responsible sourcing, supplier ecosystem development, and large-scale cost optimisation initiatives. He also held senior leadership roles across logistics, port operations, strategic sourcing, and operational efficiency within Vedanta’s natural resources businesses.
Earlier in his career, Prakash held multiple leadership positions at Konkola Copper Mines plc and The Madras Aluminium Company Ltd. (Vedanta Group), spanning projects, instrumentation, automation, operations, and techno-commercial leadership. His career reflects a rare blend of deep engineering expertise and commercial leadership, shaped by experience across India and Zambia in complex mining and metals environments.
