New York, United States, June 2025 – Maria Strid has stepped into the role of Head of People, HSBC US at HSBC. In her new capacity, Maria will lead the people agenda for HSBC’s US operations, shaping talent strategies and HR initiatives that align with the bank’s mission of opening up a world of opportunity for its people and clients.
Maria has spent over 14 years with HSBC, holding various senior HR leadership positions across the United States, United Kingdom, and global teams. Most recently, she was Head of HR Consulting US and Americas & Head of HR Commercial Banking US, where she played a pivotal role in designing and implementing HR strategies for both US and broader Americas business units.
Earlier, Maria served as Global Employee Benefits Leader and Group P&R Projects Lead, as well as Group Performance & Reward Global Projects Lead, based in New York City and London. Her remit included global oversight of performance and reward frameworks, benefits, and complex cross-border projects that impacted HSBC’s international workforce.
Maria’s journey at HSBC also includes key roles such as Head of Performance & Reward UK and Deputy Head of Performance & Reward for the UK business. Her expertise in reward, benefits, and performance management has supported organizational transformation in multiple geographies.
Before joining HSBC, Maria spent six years at Santander UK as Head of Reward & International Mobility UK, leading compensation, benefits, and mobility initiatives. She began her career as a Reward Specialist at Arup, gaining a solid foundation in HR and rewards.
