Dharwad, Karnataka, India, December 2025 – Narayan Gurav has been elevated to General Manager and Head Human Resources at Tata Motors, taking charge of HR & Employee Relations for Tata Motors Body Solutions Limited. In this role, he leads people strategy across two Bus Manufacturing Plants at Dharwad and Lucknow, along with Engineering (R&D) and Sales & Marketing functions, driving workforce excellence, compliance, and organizational effectiveness across complex, multi-location operations.
In his current role as General Manager and Head Human Resources at Tata Motors, Narayan Gurav oversees end-to-end HR and ER for Tata Motors Body Solutions Limited, partnering closely with business leaders across manufacturing, R&D, and commercial functions. His elevation reflects strong confidence in his ability to lead large workforces and align people strategy with operational priorities at scale.
Immediately prior, he served as Deputy General Manager – HR at Tata Motors Global Services Limited, the captive shared services arm of Tata Motors. There, he led a team of 17 HR professionals supporting a workforce of 1,200+ white-collar and 300+ contractual employees, with accountability across resource planning, talent acquisition, performance management, capability building, talent management, organization development, change management, employee engagement, legal compliance, and facilities administration.
Earlier at Tata Motors, Narayan Gurav led HR for R&D as Deputy General Manager – Human Resources, partnering with engineering leadership across Vehicle Attributes and Technical Services, Engineering Quality, Digital Product Development, and Strategic Business Planning—supporting 800+ engineers and specialists. Prior to that, he served as Deputy General Manager – Business HR for Manufacturing Operations and Senior Manager – Business HR for Purchase and Supplier Quality, building deep expertise across plant HR, supply chain, and quality functions.
Before joining Tata Motors, he spent over four years at Mahindra & Mahindra Limited as HR Business Partner – Sales & Marketing (Truck & Bus Division), delivering large-scale organization design, capability frameworks, dealership HR processes, and customer-centric culture initiatives across pan-India operations. He began his HR career with Kirloskar Oil Engines Limited as Senior Officer – HR, followed by early generalist roles at Indo Count Industries Limited, Tozai Exports Limited, and Hind Group of Companies, gaining hands-on experience across greenfield projects, compliance, employee relations, and administration.
Narayan Gurav holds an MBA in Human Resources & Finance from SIBER, Shivaji University, Kolhapur, and completed the Human Resource Certification Program (HRCP) at Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS)—a one-year management development program for working HR professionals sponsored by Tata Motors.
