Poojitha Balachandran Appointed as Head of HR & People Operations at Tessell

Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, October 2025 — Tessell, a rapidly growing AI-native data infrastructure company, has announced the appointment of Poojitha Balachandran as its new Head of HR & People Operations. In this strategic role, she will lead people strategy, organizational development, and HR transformation as Tessell continues its global expansion and strengthens its position as a leader in multi-cloud database-as-a-service (DBaaS).

Poojitha brings over 14 years of rich HR and business transformation experience across technology, consulting, and HR tech sectors. She joins Tessell from Darwinbox, where she served for nearly six years, most recently as HR Transformation & Customer Success Leader (North Americas Region). In this role, she led large-scale HR digital transformation projects and established strategic partnerships and alliances with global consulting firms, driving scalable growth and customer success across multiple markets.

Before her tenure at Darwinbox, Poojitha was Associate Director – People Practice at Capillary Technologies, where she spearheaded HR strategy alignment, talent management initiatives, and digital HR systems implementation to enhance employee engagement and operational excellence. Prior to that, she worked as an Independent Consultant, designing talent interventions for organizations seeking strategic HR transformation.

Earlier in her career, Poojitha spent over two years with EY (Ernst & Young) as a Manager in the People Advisory Services, delivering HR solutions across sectors such as pharmaceuticals, retail, technology, and manufacturing. She also held HR roles at Infosys, where she contributed to building the HR Academy and designing shared services models, and at Dell Technologies, where she began her HR journey as an HR Generalist.

Poojitha holds a PGDPMIR in Personnel Management & Industrial Relations from XLRI Jamshedpur, one of India’s premier management institutes. Her diverse experience across HR transformation, technology enablement, and leadership advisory positions her well to drive Tessell’s people agenda as it scales globally.

Matthew Breitfelder is Partner and Global Head of Human Capital at Apollo, where he focuses on attracting extraordinary talent to the firm and creating an innovative, inclusive, high-performance culture that brings out the best in Apollo’s people. Matt leads Apollo’s recruiting, talent management, compensation, succession planning, citizenship, employee relations, development, and culture work. He is also a member of the firm’s Leadership Team. Matt is committed to expanding opportunities across Apollo’s workplace, marketplace, and communities. Prior to joining Apollo, Matt was Chief Talent Officer at BlackRock as well as a member of the Operating Committee. Previously, he held strategy, talent, and innovation roles at Mastercard, PwC, and CEB/Gartner.

Matt holds a BA in Economics from the University of Southern California, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently serves on the boards of the Lumina Foundation, the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society program, the Milken Institute’s Inclusive Capitalism initiative, and Georgetown University’s initiative on AI, Analytics, and the Future of Work. He is the co-author of numerous Harvard Business School case studies and articles on leadership. Matt has been recognized as a Top Global CHRO multiple times by n2Growth and Stanford Business School.
