Singapore, May 2025 — Prashant Thakker has been appointed as Head – Corporate Bank for South and Southeast Asia at Citi, effective immediately. In this new role, Prashant will lead Citi’s corporate banking strategy and execution across several key Asian markets, including India, Singapore, Indonesia, and Vietnam. His responsibilities will encompass business performance, client solutions, and talent development across Citi’s corporate banking verticals that serve local corporates, public sector clients, financial institutions, and global network banking clients.
Having joined Citi in 2007 in Mumbai, Prashant has held a series of senior leadership roles, showcasing his ability to manage credit, capital, and client strategy across multiple markets. Since 2022, he has been Managing Director and Head of Capital Management for Japan, Asia North & Australia, and Asia South clusters, overseeing loan assets exceeding $40 billion and serving on cluster management teams across 16 countries. He was elevated to Business Senior Credit Officer Level 2 in 2023.
Previously, he was based in China as Managing Director – Head of Diversified Industrial & Corporate Finance, where he led teams covering state-owned and private enterprises, and originated complex transactions across acquisition finance, structured finance, and recapitalizations. From 2013 to 2018, he served as Director – Corporate and Investment Bank in Hong Kong, managing Citi’s leveraged finance book and regional capital commitments.
Before moving to Hong Kong, Prashant served in Citi India for over five years, building deep client relationships across infrastructure, mobility, and retail sectors. His earlier career includes roles at Standard Chartered and ICICI Bank, where he drove client engagement and internal audit transformation initiatives.
Prashant will relocate to Singapore for this leadership mandate and report to Jason Rekate and John Chirico (Global Co-Heads of Corporate Banking), as well as Amol Gupte, Head of the Asia South Cluster.
