ROHNERT PARK, Calif.– In a strategic move to bolster its leadership team and further its mission in the field of plastic recycling technology, Resynergi announced the appointment of Jens Umehag as its Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This key addition comes at a time when the company is actively expanding its innovative solutions to combat plastic waste and promote circularity in the use of plastics.

Brian Bauer, CEO of Resynergi, expressed his enthusiasm for Umehag’s appointment, highlighting his extensive background and proven expertise. “Jens brings decades of experience as an accomplished CFO, commercial operator and business executive in the energy sector,” Bauer said. “He has worked across industries guiding both established companies and start-ups through dynamic environments and rapid growth during his career. He brings a proven track record of driving strong financial results while instilling financial and operational discipline. I’m thrilled to welcome Jens to ensure we’re operating with efficiency as we scale.”

Umehag, in his dual role as COO and CFO, is poised to significantly contribute to Resynergi’s growth strategy, overseeing business operations and spearheading financial initiatives. He will report directly to Brian Bauer, co-founder and CEO of Resynergi.

Reflecting on his new position, Umehag shared his vision for Resynergi’s impact on plastic waste recycling. “Resynergi is at the center of plastic circularity and there is no greater honor than bringing our advanced recycling technology directly to local collection centers and helping communities recycle landfill-bound plastic waste,” Umehag said. “I’m excited to scale the diversion of millions of pounds of plastics from our landfills and oceans.”

Umehag brings a wealth of experience from his recent roles, including CFO of Innovation and Digital at Halma Group and Managing Partner of Halma Ventures. His extensive career also includes 19 years at BP, where he held significant positions in fuels value chain management and leadership, culminating as CFO and Head of Finance Group Technology at BP Ventures.

Umehag’s academic credentials include a bachelor’s degree in International Business from the European Business School in London. His global experience and leadership in the technology and B2B sectors will be instrumental in driving Resynergi’s initiatives forward.

About Resynergi:

Resynergi, based in Rohnert Park, CA, is a pioneer in advanced recycling technology, driving the shift towards plastic circularity to safeguard human health and the environment. Through its Continuous Microwave Assisted Pyrolysis (CMAP) technology, Resynergi is revolutionizing the recycling industry by converting plastic waste back into its molecular components. These components can then be reused to manufacture new materials, significantly reducing the reliance on fossil-based resources. Collaborating closely with recycling organizations, Resynergi is committed to diverting vast amounts of plastic from landfills and oceans, aiming to transform billions of tons of plastic waste into circular products by 2030 and beyond.
