Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, November 2025 — Sterling Hospitals, Gujarat’s first corporate hospital chain, has announced the appointment of Santosh Marathe as its Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO). With nearly three decades of leadership experience in clinical operations, hospital management, and multi-unit healthcare governance, Santosh brings a powerful blend of financial acumen, operational insight, and strategic vision to his new role.
As MD & CEO, Santosh will oversee Sterling’s network of six NABH-accredited hospitals, including two oncology centers, spanning Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, and Gandhidham with a combined capacity of over 1,000 beds. His mandate includes strengthening Sterling’s clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and patient-centric delivery model, while steering the organization’s regional expansion and modernization efforts.
Prior to joining Sterling Hospitals, Santosh served as Chief Operating Officer at NMC Healthcare, where he managed 16 JCI-accredited hospitals, long-term care facilities, and diagnostic units across the UAE. He was responsible for driving organizational transformation through performance metrics, process re-engineering, and digital initiatives such as CRM and mobile applications that enhanced patient experience and operational transparency.
Before that, he spent over seven years as Regional CEO (Western Region) at Apollo Hospitals, leading multi-location operations across Navi Mumbai, Nashik, Ahmedabad, and Gandhinagar. His leadership encompassed doctor engagement, profitability enhancement, clinical governance, and technology adoption—including the rollout of HIMSS EMR standards to improve care quality and efficiency.
Earlier, Santosh held senior roles at American Hospital Dubai, where he led finance, revenue management, and IT services as Chief Financial Officer, and at Apollo Hospitals (Bangalore and Pune), where he designed physician compensation models, standardized biomedical equipment procurement, and established systems that drove financial sustainability. His earlier tenures at Eagle Flask Limited, Deeva Network, Sapat, and Crompton Greaves laid the foundation for his expertise in strategic planning, cost optimization, and enterprise governance.
With a strong record of architecting performance-driven frameworks and leading cross-functional healthcare operations across India and the Middle East, Santosh Marathe is well-positioned to guide Sterling Hospitals into its next phase of growth, innovation, and excellence in patient care.
