Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, December 2024 – Steven Harris has been appointed as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at the City of Ryde. In his new role, Steven will lead the Finance, Procurement, and Major Projects services. As the designated Responsible Accounting Officer, he will oversee financial strategies and ensure fiscal accountability to support the City of Ryde’s commitment to delivering exceptional services and sustainable growth.
Steven brings a wealth of experience to his new position. Prior to joining the City of Ryde, he served for six years as Chief Financial Officer at Blacktown City Council, where he successfully managed financial strategies for one of Australia’s largest councils, driving efficiency and fiscal responsibility.
Previously, Steven was the Finance Director at Williams Lea for four years, where he streamlined financial operations and contributed to organizational growth. Earlier in his tenure, he held dual roles at Deutsche Post DHL as Business Controller and later Finance Director, demonstrating expertise in financial planning and operational leadership over nine years.
Steven also gained valuable experience as a Supply Chain Analyst at Orica and as a Financial Analyst at AGL, contributing to supply chain efficiency and financial reporting processes. His early career roles included finance positions at British American Tobacco and Healthcare of Australia – Mayne Nickless Group, where he developed a strong foundation in accounting and financial systems.
