London, England, United Kingdom, July 2025 – StepChange Debt Charity has announced the appointment of Sue Murdoch as its new Chief People Officer, further strengthening its executive leadership team. In this pivotal role, Sue will oversee the charity’s people strategy, fostering a purpose-driven culture to support its mission of helping individuals and families tackle problem debt.
Sue brings with her over two decades of HR leadership across diverse industries, most recently serving as Chief People Officer at AlbaCo Ltd for two years, where she led culture transformation, talent management, and leadership development initiatives. Prior to that, she held the same title at Bank North, where she played a critical role in shaping the people agenda for a high-growth financial services startup.
Sue’s earlier experience includes serving as Director of People at Eville & Jones, and a notable near 7-year tenure at KCOM, where she held progressive roles including Group HR Director, HR Director, and Head of HR & OD. During this time, she led major restructuring, employee engagement, and strategic capability-building initiatives.
She also held senior roles in International Personal Finance, WYG Group, and National Australia Bank, with extensive experience in organizational development, learning and change, and HR transformation. Sue has also worked in various consulting capacities, adding a breadth of perspective to her already rich corporate experience.
