New Delhi, India, February 2025 – Sukanta Das has been appointed as the Managing Director of Oxford University Press India, where he will oversee operations in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, and the UAE. With over two decades of leadership experience across commercial and consumer sectors, he will drive strategic initiatives to expand Oxford University Press (OUP) India’s footprint in school and higher education, English language learning, blended education models, and academic programs. His expertise in business growth, market expansion, and digital transformation will play a crucial role in strengthening OUP’s position in the global education sector.
Before joining Oxford University Press, Sukanta Das was Business Head at Vodafone Idea Limited, leading its largest regional cluster in Gujarat and previously managing operations across the East region. He played a pivotal role in driving commercial success, enhancing market penetration, and spearheading operational excellence.
Prior to Vodafone Idea, Sukanta served as CEO & Director at Firefox Bikes Pvt. Ltd., where he transformed the company into India’s top premium bicycle brand, achieving 4X revenue growth and 25X EBIDTA growth. His leadership resulted in the brand securing recognition as ET Best Brands 2021 and a Great Place to Work 2020-21.
His earlier experience includes leadership roles at CEAT Limited, Eveready Industries India Ltd, and ITC Limited, where he successfully led sales, marketing, business expansion, and strategic planning. His expertise in consumer behavior, brand building, and operational excellence has consistently driven growth across multiple industries.
