Colombo, Western Province, Sri Lanka, July 2025 – Suranga Dineth Cooray has taken on a new leadership position as Assistant Vice President – Talent & Learning at Aitken Spence, marking a continued trajectory within the company where he has already made notable contributions to HR leadership and talent development initiatives.
Over the past nearly six years at Aitken Spence, Suranga has held multiple senior HR roles, including General Manager – Group HR, where he led Learning & Development, Talent Development, Employee Engagement, and Internal Communications across the organization. His work was pivotal in strengthening the company’s people agenda and aligning learning strategies with business priorities.
Prior to this, he served as Deputy General Manager – Human Resources at Aitken Spence, playing a central role in shaping and delivering the organization’s HR practices. Suranga also previously held the position of Assistant General Manager – Talent Management at Aitken Spence, further building his foundation in talent strategy and leadership development.
Before returning to Aitken Spence, Suranga worked at Nations Trust Bank PLC for over three and a half years, where he contributed to strengthening HR capabilities in the banking sector. His exposure to structured people practices and digital talent models during this time added depth to his leadership profile.
Suranga holds an MBA in Business Administration and Management from the University of Wales, and brings with him a deep understanding of HR transformation, talent ecosystems, and leadership pipeline development—making him well-positioned to drive impact in his new role.
