Chandra, who has been with Tata Motors for nearly three decades, currently serves as the Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited. He has played a pivotal role in leading the passenger vehicles and electric mobility businesses, steering Tata Motors into a leadership position in India’s EV market.

Chandra has had a long and distinguished career within the Tata Group. Over the past three years, he has served as Managing Director of Tata Motors’ Passenger Vehicles and Electric Mobility businesses, driving growth and market leadership. Prior to this, he spent close to two years as President of the Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, leading product portfolio expansion and customer experience initiatives.

Earlier, as President of Electric Mobility Business & Corporate Strategy, he was instrumental in laying the foundation for Tata Motors’ EV business. He also served as Head of Corporate Strategy & Business Transformation, shaping the company’s long-term growth roadmap.

Beyond his leadership roles at Tata Motors, Chandra worked with Tata Sons in the Group Chairman’s Office and Group Strategy function, contributing to high-level strategic initiatives for the Tata Group. His early years at Tata Motors included leadership roles in corporate strategy, vendor development, marketing strategy for defence vehicles, and production management in the gearbox division. With close to 30 years of experience across production, strategy, and business leadership, Chandra’s career reflects deep continuity within the Tata Group.

Alongside Chandra’s elevation, Dhiman Gupta has been named as the new Chief Financial Officer of Tata Motors. In parallel, Girish Wagh will take charge of the Commercial Vehicles division, while Group CFO P B Balaji will step down from his role to become the CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, marking another significant transition within the Tata Group.
