Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, September 2025 — Vetri Subramaniam has been appointed as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of UTI Mutual Fund, marking a new chapter in his distinguished career. He takes on this leadership role after serving as Chief Investment Officer at UTI Mutual Fund for over four years, where he was instrumental in shaping investment strategies, strengthening equity offerings, and enhancing the fund’s performance in India’s competitive asset management industry.
Vetri has been with UTI Mutual Fund since 2017, initially joining as Head of Equity Funds. In this role, he led the equity investment team, driving fund strategy and performance across diverse schemes. His leadership was pivotal in establishing robust equity products and expanding UTI’s positioning in the mutual fund sector, setting the foundation for his elevation to CIO and now to MD & CEO.
Before joining UTI, he spent nearly nine years at Invesco Asset Management (India) Private Limited, where he held the role of Chief Investment Officer. There, he played a key role in portfolio construction, fund strategy, and market positioning, enabling Invesco to strengthen its presence in India’s investment landscape. He also briefly served as CIO at Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd., where he contributed to expanding the firm’s equity offerings and strengthening its asset management initiatives.
Earlier in his career, Vetri co-founded and served as Partner at Capris Investment Management, where he also acted as an advisor to a UK-based fund. Prior to this entrepreneurial stint, he was Head of Equity Funds at Kotak Mahindra Asset Management, where he helped refine investment strategies and strengthen fund performance. His earlier leadership roles also included serving as Chief Investment Advisor at Sharekhan, and Vice President of Equity Sales at SSKI Securities, where he built strong market relationships and sharpened his expertise in equity markets.
Vetri began his professional journey with Kotak Mahindra Finance Ltd. in 1992, serving as an Assistant Vice President. Over the years, he has cultivated deep expertise in investment management, equity research, and financial strategy. An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, his career spanning over three decades reflects consistent excellence and leadership across India’s financial services ecosystem.
