Battaramulla, Western Province, Sri Lanka, April 2025 – Vijitha Medagedara has been elevated to the position of Group Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at the David Pieris Group of Companies, marking a significant milestone in her longstanding career with the organization. In this new leadership role, she will oversee the Group’s HR strategy across its diversified portfolio, driving cultural transformation, talent development, and organizational effectiveness at scale.
Over the past two decades, Vijitha Medagedara has steadily risen through the ranks at the David Pieris Group, gaining extensive cross-functional HR experience. Most recently, she served as Group Head of Human Resources, where she was instrumental in aligning HR practices with business goals across the Group’s multiple subsidiaries.
Earlier, she held the position of General Manager – Human Resources at David Pieris Motor Company, one of the flagship companies within the Group, where she played a critical role in workforce planning, policy design, and capability development.
Prior to that, she contributed as Deputy General Manager and Divisional Manager – Human Resources, leading several people-centric programs to strengthen employee engagement and leadership pipelines across the company.
She began her HR career as Group Human Resources Development Executive at Union Apparels, and had short tenures at Kent Productions and Sri Lanka Ayurvedic Drugs Corporation, where she laid the foundation for her career in learning, development, and people operations.
