Dr. Akona has been an integral part of Makosi for over two years, previously serving as the Employee Relations, Policies and Compliance Lead. In this role, she spearheaded initiatives to address global labor relations challenges, streamline compliance frameworks, and enhance organizational equity through innovative policies and strategies.
Prior to joining Makosi, Dr. Akona was an Employee Relations Lead at Accenture, where she contributed to global acquisitions, policy development, and dispute resolution. Her tenure at Smollan as Group Employee Relations Manager saw her directing labor relations across Africa, developing compliance frameworks, and driving transformation initiatives.
Her earlier roles include serving as Industrial Relations Manager at AVI Limited and Employee Relations Manager at TFG (The Foschini Group), where she managed extensive employee relations portfolios across multiple countries, ensuring compliance and fostering a positive workplace culture.
