Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, July 2025 – Biswaroop Mukherjee has taken charge as the Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) for the Battery Business at Reliance Industries Limited, a critical appointment aligning with the conglomerate’s bold goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2035. In this strategic role, he will be responsible for shaping the talent strategy, building leadership capability, and driving a high-performance culture in one of Reliance’s most transformative green energy verticals.
Prior to joining Reliance, Biswaroop Mukherjee served as Vice President – People and Transformation at Aker Solutions, where he was at the helm of HR strategy and transformation initiatives across India. His leadership was instrumental in aligning people practices with business growth during a critical transition phase.
He previously held a long and distinguished tenure of over five years at Tata Motors, where he led HR for the Commercial Vehicle Business Unit, overseeing people strategies across multiple functions and international subsidiaries. He also played a pivotal role in talent acquisition, employer branding, and industry-academia relations at Tata Motors, contributing significantly to the company’s organizational evolution.
Before Tata Motors, Biswaroop held senior HR leadership roles at GE Power, managing human resources for multiple business units across South Asia, including Grid Solutions and HVDC. His global exposure includes significant responsibilities in Europe, Russia, the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia, where he led initiatives related to global mobility, expatriate management, and international compliance during his earlier stint as Head of HR – International Business at Tata Motors.
Earlier in his career, he worked with reputed organizations such as Deloitte, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, and ABP Network, handling critical HR domains including performance management, employee engagement, rewards, and recruitment. He began his journey in HR with ABP Network as a management trainee and progressed quickly into leadership roles.
Biswaroop Mukherjee holds an MBA in Human Resources from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM) and has participated in the Tata Group Executive Leadership Seminar at the University of Michigan, equipping him with strong strategic and global leadership capabilities.
