Gurugram, Haryana, India, September 2025 — HONO has announced the appointment of Sumit Sabharwal as its new Chief Business Officer (CBO) for India and South Asia. In this role, he will spearhead the company’s growth strategy, drive revenue acceleration, and lead the expansion across India and South Asia for HONO’s AI-driven HR-tech platform.
Sabharwal brings with him a wealth of leadership and business transformation experience spanning over two decades across HR technology, fintech, BFSI, and consulting.
At HONO, he will focus on forging high-impact partnerships, unlocking new markets, and building scalable, sustainable growth strategies. He joins the organization at a pivotal moment, as HONO continues to expand its global presence, serving 300+ enterprise clients and supporting over one million employees across 50+ markets.
Before joining HONO, Sabharwal led Deel as Country Leader, India, where he successfully drove expansion in one of the world’s most dynamic HR-tech markets. His leadership resulted in a significant increase in workforce and market share, while empowering Indian companies to scale globally through innovative payroll and HR solutions.
Earlier, as CEO of TeamLease HRtech, he transformed the company into one of India’s largest HR-tech service providers, driving hypergrowth, integrating advanced SaaS solutions, and scaling revenue across a large customer base. His tenure at Equifax as Chief Sales Officer for South Asia, ME Asia, and SE Asia saw him leading business development in credit, data, and risk solutions, delivering exponential growth across multiple BFSI verticals.
Sabharwal also held senior leadership roles at OCS Group as Managing Director & Country Head – India, and at Excelity Global (formerly Aon Hewitt) as Managing Director & CEO – SAARC, where he drove transformational growth, expanded operations across multiple countries, and delivered strong revenue and profitability improvements.
Earlier in his career, he served in leadership positions with Essar, HDFC Bank, Godrej & Boyce, Aegis, and Magus Dialog, where he was instrumental in driving growth, customer engagement, sales strategy, and technology-enabled solutions in BFSI and shared services. His experience reflects a strong track record of scaling businesses, managing P&L, and executing high-impact digital transformations.
Sabharwal holds a Ph.D. in Management from NMIMS, an MBA in Sales & Marketing and IT from MDI Gurgaon, and a B.Tech. from Kurukshetra University. He has also undertaken executive programs at Harvard Business School and Sciences Po, further strengthening his leadership credentials.
