Gurugram, Haryana, India, November 2025 — Surender Rana has taken on the role of Executive Vice Chairman at Capital India Finance Limited, bringing with him more than three decades of distinguished leadership experience from the State Bank of India (SBI). In his illustrious career at SBI, Mr. Rana played a crucial role in shaping nationwide strategies across diverse regions including Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Patna, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Agra. In his final role as Deputy Managing Director, he steered key national initiatives, deepened strategic partnerships, and advanced SME-focused innovations. His governance contributions also extended to roles as Board Member at State Bank Operations Support Services and the Khadi and Village Industries Commission, further strengthening his leadership footprint in public-sector growth and policy alignment.
His preceding leadership assignments as Chief General Manager in Gujarat, Bihar, and Jharkhand, and earlier in Chandigarh and Haryana, showcased his expertise in driving large-scale operations across high-potential markets. His ability to build strong regional ecosystems, enhance financial inclusion, and lead multidisciplinary teams made him a key driver of SBI’s growth and operational excellence.
Before reaching these senior roles, Mr. Rana shaped SME strategy and policy nationwide as Deputy General Manager – SME in Mumbai, where he led the development of SBI’s cashflow-based SME underwriting engine, formulated the Bank’s policy on TReDS, and drove digital partnerships with platforms such as Flipkart and Amazon. His earlier tenure as Assistant General Manager in Delhi and Agra, and his long foundational stint as Chief Manager across North India, strengthened his deep understanding of branch banking, credit management, and business development.
Across his 34-year journey at State Bank of India, Mr. Rana consistently demonstrated a results-driven approach to governance, credit transformation, and operational strategy.
