Nashville, TN, United States, December 2025 — TriStar Centennial Medical Center has announced the appointment of Matthew Hickey as its new Vice President of Human Resources, marking a significant leadership addition as the hospital enhances its people‑operations capabilities across its expanding clinical operations. With over 20 years of experience in healthcare HR, employee relations, labor management, and talent acquisition, Matthew brings a proven track record of strategic human capital leadership in large hospital networks and healthcare systems.
Matthew’s journey in healthcare human resources leadership encompasses senior HR roles within the HCA Healthcare system, where he served as Vice President of Human Resources for multiple hospitals including the HCA Florida Aventura Hospital and HCA Florida Palms West Hospital. In these capacities, he led HR strategy, workforce planning, and organizational development for hospitals with substantial licensed beds and sizable staff, reinforcing his ability to manage complex healthcare environments and support operational growth under regulatory and service‑quality demands.
Before his VP‑level roles at HCA, Matthew worked as an HR Business Partner at another hospital within the network and earlier led labor and employee relations as Manager – Corporate Labor & Employee Relations at Northwell Health. In these roles, he developed a strong understanding of compliance, labor law, employee engagement, and organizational policy — skills vital to navigating the human‑resources demands of large, diverse healthcare organizations.
Earlier in his career, Matthew built foundational experience in talent acquisition and workforce management during his tenure as Director of Talent Acquisition at a staffing firm, and prior to that, spent a decade managing operations and people at retail and service‑industry companies such as McDonald’s Corporation. This breadth of experience across industries has equipped him with versatility in HR operations, leadership development, and employee experience — qualities that he now brings to TriStar Centennial Medical Center.
At TriStar Centennial, Matthew will lead the human resources function for a hospital system with more than 740 licensed beds and a workforce of 3,200+ colleagues. He will be responsible for aligning HR strategy with clinical operations, driving talent acquisition and retention, supporting workforce development, nurturing a culture centered on patient care and employee well‑being, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
