Gurugram, Haryana, India, December 2025 — Roop Loomba has started a new position as Legal Head – India and South Asia at AkzoNobel Powder Coatings India Private Limited, marking a significant leadership appointment within the legal and governance function of the global paints and coatings major.
In his new role, Roop Loomba is responsible for establishing and leading the Legal, Ethics, and Compliance framework for AkzoNobel Powder Coatings India, a newly incorporated subsidiary of AkzoNobel. She will play a foundational role in shaping the company’s governance architecture, ensuring strong regulatory alignment, ethical standards, and risk management practices while closely partnering with business leaders to enable sustainable growth.
Before taking on this expanded responsibility, Roop Loomba served as Legal Head – India, South Asia and Pacific at AkzoNobel, where she spearheaded the setup of legal functions across the region and built compliance frameworks that acted as business enablers. Her work focused on proactive risk mitigation, legal awareness, and embedding governance best practices aligned with AkzoNobel’s global standards.
Earlier, she held the position of General Counsel, Head of Ethics & Compliance – India and South Asia at Rolls-Royce, where she was instrumental in setting up the company’s legal and compliance operations in India. Her responsibilities spanned ethics programs, regulatory compliance, and strategic legal advisory in a complex, highly regulated environment.
Roop’s career also includes senior legal leadership roles at Philips Lighting India Limited, Whirlpool India, Louis Dreyfus Company, Hindustan Unilever Limited, and Castrol India Limited. Across these roles, she led high-value litigation, supported large-scale manufacturing and consumer businesses, managed greenfield projects, handled M&A and divestments, and worked closely with global legal teams.
