Beverly, Massachusetts, United States, January 2026 —Highland Electric Fleets has promoted Erika Carlson to Senior Vice President, People, recognizing her impactful leadership and continued contributions to the organization’s growth and people strategy.
Erika has been part of Highland Electric Fleets for the past two years, previously serving as Vice President, People. In that role, she led strategic human capital initiatives, strengthened talent development frameworks, enhanced employee engagement, and supported the company’s rapid expansion as North America’s leading Electrification-as-a-Service provider. Her elevation reflects the company’s confidence in her ability to shape a high-performance, mission-driven workforce aligned with Highland’s ambitious growth trajectory.
Prior to joining Highland, Erika served as Head of People at SafeSend, where she led the people function during a significant growth phase, building scalable HR systems and fostering a strong organizational culture. Before that, she spent over eight years at Detroit Labs, progressing through leadership roles including Vice President, People Development and Director of People Development, where she championed talent strategy, learning programs, and organizational design initiatives.
Earlier in her career, Erika gained experience in software development and technology, contributing to organizations such as Pillar Technology, and also co-founded the Detroit chapter of Girl Develop It, reflecting her passion for education, inclusion, and community building.
In her expanded role as Senior Vice President, People, Erika will continue to drive Highland Electric Fleets’ people strategy, ensuring the organization remains agile, innovative, and aligned with its mission to transform transportation through electrification.
