Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, February 2026 – Masood M. Sharif Mahmood has been appointed as Group Chief Executive Officer of e&, effective April 2026. He will succeed Hatem Dowidar, following six years of transformation and global expansion for the Group.
Currently serving as Chief Executive Officer of e& UAE, Mahmood brings more than 25 years of experience spanning telecoms, investment, and government. His leadership journey reflects deep expertise across satellite communications, digital infrastructure, and global markets.
Prior to leading e& UAE, Mahmood spent over a decade at Yahsat, where he served as Chief Executive Officer for nearly eight years and previously as Deputy CEO, driving the company’s expansion in satellite communications and international markets. He also continues to serve as a Board Member at Yahsat, contributing to strategic oversight at one of the region’s key space and satellite operators.
Beyond telecom and satellite leadership, Mahmood has held influential board and executive roles across government and investment institutions. He serves as a Board Member at the UAE Space Agency and previously at Etihad Aviation Group. His earlier career includes senior leadership positions at Mubadala Development Company, Dubai Investment Group, and as Project Manager at The Executive Office of HH Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid, reflecting strong exposure to national-level strategic initiatives.
An alumnus of Boston University, where he earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Systems Engineering, and McGill University – Desautels Faculty of Management, where he completed his MBA in Finance, Mahmood combines technical depth with financial and strategic acumen.
His appointment marks a significant leadership transition for e&, as the Group continues to strengthen its global technology footprint, serving more than 163 million customers across 16 countries in the Middle East, Asia, and Africa.
