Rizwan Koita Appointed as Chairperson of NABH

NEW DELHI, Delhi, India, May 2024—Mr. Rizwan Koita, a seasoned entrepreneur and director of the Koita Foundation, has been named the new chairperson of the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH), a key component of the Quality Council of India (QCI). Having served on the NABH board for the past two years, Mr. Koita has been deeply involved in advancing Digital Health initiatives, making him a natural fit for this leadership role.

NABH is internationally recognized by the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua) and aims to enhance healthcare quality across India. Currently, over 20,000 hospitals nationwide adhere to NABH standards, demonstrating the broad impact and acceptance of its accreditation processes.

Mr. Jaxay Shah, Chairman of QCI, expressed enthusiasm for Mr. Koita’s new role, stating, “I am delighted to welcome Mr. Rizwan Koita as the Chairman of NABH. His global perspective on healthcare, technology, and scaling businesses will enable us to expand NABH’s reach across India and serve all segments of the healthcare ecosystem.”

Mr. Koita shared his vision for the role, noting, “NABH is playing a critical role in transforming healthcare and patient safety in India. I look forward to working closely with QCI and NABH leadership in accelerating these efforts. NABH can play a key role in enhancing healthcare, especially in small- and mid-sized healthcare facilities across India, which constitute a large part of the healthcare ecosystem, and make healthcare more accessible, measurable, and cost-effective for patients across India.”

A graduate of IIT Bombay and MIT, Mr. Koita co-founded CitiusTech, a global leader in healthcare technology, serving as its CEO until 2021. Under his guidance, CitiusTech achieved remarkable growth and became India’s 25th Unicorn in 2019, marking a significant milestone as the first Indian Unicorn in healthcare technology.
