Akanksha Malik Appointed as Vice President, Talent Strategy at Intact

Toronto, Ontario, Canada, April 2025 – Akanksha Malik has taken on the expanded role of Vice President, Talent Strategy at Intact, where she now leads not only Talent Acquisition, but also Talent Management and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). In this capacity, she will drive an integrated people strategy focused on building a high-performing, inclusive, and future-ready workforce.

Akanksha has been a cornerstone of Intact’s talent efforts for over three years, most recently serving as Vice President, Talent Acquisition. In this role, she led a team of over 100 professionals across Canada and crafted innovative strategies to attract, engage, and retain top-tier talent. Her leadership has been instrumental in positioning Intact as an employer of choice and building a sustainable talent pipeline.

Prior to joining Intact, Akanksha spent eight years at Rogers Communications, rising to the role of Head of Talent Acquisition. There, she created national strategies to drive diverse hiring, developed employer branding and EVP, and managed campus initiatives and niche skill recruitment to future-proof the organization’s workforce.

Before her talent leadership roles, she worked in Corporate Strategy and Innovation at Rogers, where she led governance with global partners like Google, Amazon, and LinkedIn. Earlier stints in Organizational Development, HR Analytics, and HR Planning at Rogers and Husky Injection Molding Systems shaped her comprehensive view of strategic people management and business alignment.

Akanksha began her career in rotational programs at Loblaw Companies Limited and RBS, building foundational experience in HR planning, talent retention, and leadership development. She is recognized for her deep expertise in talent strategy, succession planning, DEI, and employer branding, and for her commitment to shaping inclusive workplace cultures.

Matthew Breitfelder is Partner and Global Head of Human Capital at Apollo, where he focuses on attracting extraordinary talent to the firm and creating an innovative, inclusive, high-performance culture that brings out the best in Apollo’s people. Matt leads Apollo’s recruiting, talent management, compensation, succession planning, citizenship, employee relations, development, and culture work. He is also a member of the firm’s Leadership Team. Matt is committed to expanding opportunities across Apollo’s workplace, marketplace, and communities. Prior to joining Apollo, Matt was Chief Talent Officer at BlackRock as well as a member of the Operating Committee. Previously, he held strategy, talent, and innovation roles at Mastercard, PwC, and CEB/Gartner.

Matt holds a BA in Economics from the University of Southern California, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently serves on the boards of the Lumina Foundation, the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society program, the Milken Institute’s Inclusive Capitalism initiative, and Georgetown University’s initiative on AI, Analytics, and the Future of Work. He is the co-author of numerous Harvard Business School case studies and articles on leadership. Matt has been recognized as a Top Global CHRO multiple times by n2Growth and Stanford Business School.
