Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group is proud to announce the promotion of Alwaleed Alnashwan to the role of Director of People & Culture at the esteemed Mandarin Oriental Al Faisaliah, Riyadh. This strategic appointment is a significant part of the group’s ongoing effort to transition from traditional Human Resources to a more encompassing People & Culture framework, aiming to cultivate a holistic and engaging experience for all colleagues.

Alwaleed Alnashwan shared his enthusiasm for his new role, stating, “I have transitioned to the role of Director of People & Culture at Mandarin Oriental Al Faisaliah, Riyadh. At Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, we are embarking on the evolution from Human Resources to People & Culture as we build a more holistic approach to the colleague experience and engagement. Alnashwan’s professional journey within the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group spans over three years, demonstrating his commitment and valuable contribution to the organization. Before his promotion, Alnashwan excelled as the Assistant Director of Human Resources and, prior to that, as the Assistant Manager of Human Resources, showcasing his adeptness in managing human resource functions and contributing to the development of the hotel’s workforce strategy.

Before joining the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, Alnashwan played a pivotal role at Al Faisaliah Hotel, where he advanced through several positions, including Assistant Human Resources Manager and Assistant Recruitment Manager, over a period of nearly three years. His early career also included a noteworthy tenure as a Human Resources Manager for Global Views MENA Region – BAS Global Investments, further solidifying his expertise in human resources management within the hospitality industry.

Alnashwan’s journey in the field of human resources and people management began at Al Faisaliah Hotel as a Human Resources Clerk, setting the foundation for a career marked by continuous growth and professional development. With a total experience of over 8 years in the industry, his ascent to the role of Director of People & Culture is a testament to his dedication, skill, and visionary approach to human resources.

In his new role, Alnashwan is poised to make significant contributions to the Mandarin Oriental Al Faisaliah, Riyadh, by driving initiatives that enhance the work environment, strengthen colleague engagement, and foster a culture of inclusivity and growth. His leadership is expected to play a crucial role in the hotel’s efforts to redefine and elevate the employee experience, aligning with Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group’s commitment to excellence and innovation in the hospitality sector.

Matthew Breitfelder is Partner and Global Head of Human Capital at Apollo, where he focuses on attracting extraordinary talent to the firm and creating an innovative, inclusive, high-performance culture that brings out the best in Apollo’s people. Matt leads Apollo’s recruiting, talent management, compensation, succession planning, citizenship, employee relations, development, and culture work. He is also a member of the firm’s Leadership Team. Matt is committed to expanding opportunities across Apollo’s workplace, marketplace, and communities. Prior to joining Apollo, Matt was Chief Talent Officer at BlackRock as well as a member of the Operating Committee. Previously, he held strategy, talent, and innovation roles at Mastercard, PwC, and CEB/Gartner.

Matt holds a BA in Economics from the University of Southern California, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently serves on the boards of the Lumina Foundation, the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society program, the Milken Institute’s Inclusive Capitalism initiative, and Georgetown University’s initiative on AI, Analytics, and the Future of Work. He is the co-author of numerous Harvard Business School case studies and articles on leadership. Matt has been recognized as a Top Global CHRO multiple times by n2Growth and Stanford Business School.
