Chicago, United States, August 2024 – Anel Ruiz has stepped into the role of Managing Director, People Impact & Chief Diversity Officer at United Airlines. In her new position, Anel will be responsible for driving the airline’s diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies while also leading initiatives that positively impact the employee experience across the company.
Before her promotion, Anel served as Director of Engagement Communications at United Airlines for over a year, where she played a pivotal role in enhancing internal communications and employee engagement. Prior to this, she held the position of Director of Hub Communications at United Airlines, where she managed communications across multiple hubs, ensuring consistent and effective messaging.
Prior to joining United Airlines, Anel was the Senior Vice President at Culloton + Bauer Luce, a public affairs and communications consulting firm. In this role, she provided strategic communications counsel to a range of clients, including political figures and large organizations.
Earlier in her career, Anel served as Press Secretary for Mayor Lightfoot in Chicago, where she was instrumental in managing media relations and communications for the mayor’s office. She also worked as the Director of Public Affairs at the Chicago Department of Public Health, where she led public relations initiatives to support the city’s health programs.
In addition to these roles, Anel has held various positions in public relations and external relations, including Deputy Chief of Staff for Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle and Director of Development and Operations at Free Spirit Media.
