The Australian Fashion Council (AFC) proudly announced the appointment of Jaana Quaintance-James as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Bringing a wealth of experience in commercial strategy, sustainability, and innovation, Quaintance-James is set to lead the council into a new era of growth and impactful change within the Australian Fashion and Textile Industry.
With an impressive background that spans both domestic and international markets, Quaintance-James has been at the forefront of driving sustainable practices across the fashion sector. Her most recent role as Chief Sustainability and Sourcing Officer at Global Fashion Group, which includes oversight of prominent eCommerce platforms like THE ICONIC in Australia and New Zealand, has positioned her as a key figure in the industry’s push towards sustainable development. Her career also includes significant positions at THE ICONIC as Head of Sustainability and David Jones as Ethical Sourcing Manager, following a decade in consulting within consumer goods.
Marianne Perkovic, Chair of the AFC, highlighted the challenges currently faced by the industry, including shifts in retail and trade environments, inflation, technological advancements, and shortages in skilled labor and materials. Perkovic commended Quaintance-James’ strategic leadership, financial acumen, and operational expertise, noting her capacity to drive business transformations that enhance both profitability and sustainability.
