NEW DELHI, Delhi, India, August 2025 – Avinash Pandey, a seasoned media executive with nearly three decades of experience in broadcasting, media management, and industry advocacy, is set to assume the role of Secretary General of the Indian Broadcasting and Digital Foundation (IBDF). This move underscores IBDF’s commitment to strengthening its leadership at a pivotal time for the broadcasting and digital content sectors in India.
Avinash recently concluded a transformative tenure as Chief Executive Officer of ABP Network, where over a span of nearly 13 years, he played an instrumental role in driving growth, innovation, and digital expansion. Under his leadership, ABP launched multiple satellite and digital-first channels, integrated newsroom operations, and introduced new revenue streams such as podcasting and live events. He also led the organization’s expansion into regional and international markets, while significantly improving EBITDA and top-line performance.
Following his exit from ABP Network in mid-2024, Avinash continued to shape the media landscape in advisory roles. Since January 2025, he has served as Senior Advisor – Media Practices at Primus Partners India, helping define media strategy and transformation for clients, and also as a Non-Executive Director at Laqshya Media Group, contributing to digital innovation and content monetization strategies.
Earlier in his career, Avinash held various key leadership positions including COO, CRO, and Founding Director at ABP News Network and ABP Creations Pvt. Ltd., playing a central role in strategic sales, content development, digital transformation, and operational integration. He previously worked at TV Today, where he was instrumental in the launch of India’s first 24-hour news channels—Aaj Tak and Headlines Today—and helped grow the network’s revenue significantly.
He has also served as President of the News Broadcasters & Digital Association (NBDA), Director of the Digital News Publishers Association, and Director at IBDF, advocating for media rights, press freedom, and responsible content regulation.
As IBDF continues to scale its influence across both traditional and digital domains—including the OTT sector—Avinash’s leadership will be vital in shaping policy advocacy, self-regulation, and fostering a robust broadcasting ecosystem.
