Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa, November 2025 – takealot.com, South Africa’s leading eCommerce retailer, has announced the appointment of Azaqiqe Mkosana as Head of Talent Acquisition, Employer Branding & Graduate Recruitment. In this strategic leadership role, Azaqiqe will drive the company’s end-to-end talent strategy — strengthening its employer brand, shaping its graduate recruitment framework, and ensuring that takealot.com continues to attract and retain exceptional talent across its fast-growing digital ecosystem.
Prior to joining takealot.com, Azaqiqe held a Group Talent Acquisition leadership role at The Shoprite Group of Companies, one of Africa’s largest retail conglomerates. During her three-year tenure, she led recruitment initiatives for both corporate and operational functions, streamlining hiring processes, enhancing employer branding, and building future-ready recruitment capabilities to support business growth across multiple divisions.
Before her impactful work at Shoprite, she served as Talent Pool Manager at Massmart, where she was responsible for developing and executing a holistic talent acquisition strategy across the Merchandising, Marketing, Corporate Affairs, and Data & Analytics portfolios. Her contributions included creating recruitment infrastructure, reducing dependency on external agencies, and improving hiring efficiency while championing an exceptional candidate experience.
Earlier, Azaqiqe spent nearly two years as Talent Acquisition Specialist at Massdiscounters (Game and Dionwired), where she drove critical talent acquisition programs, managed the group’s internal recruitment system, and significantly expanded its LinkedIn employer brand presence — growing the company’s following from 8,000 to over 23,000.
Before entering the corporate recruitment domain, Azaqiqe was Director and Co-founder at Expedient Africa & Expedient Mauritius, a BBBEE Level 2 executive search firm specializing in senior management recruitment across Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands. During her four-year leadership, she successfully opened a Mauritius branch, executed multiple senior placements across sectors, and launched an innovative mentorship program for underprivileged youth focused on employability readiness.
Her early career includes successful roles as Senior Recruitment Consultant at The Working Earth and Tech-Pro, where she specialized in HR and supply chain recruitment, earning recognition for top consultant performance and significant revenue contributions.
