Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, September 2025 — Balaji Thiagarajan has been appointed as Chief Technology and Product Officer at Flipkart, bringing with him more than two decades of leadership across global technology and product organizations. In this new role, he will focus on scaling product innovation, driving AI-led transformation, and enhancing digital commerce experiences for millions of users across India.
Prior to this appointment, Thiagarajan founded Kasu.ai, an AI-driven enterprise virtual assistant platform focused on financial services, where he served as Founder & CEO. He also continues to contribute as an Advisory Board Member at Tetrate, advising on modern application networking, Zero Trust security, and open-source technologies such as Istio and Envoy.
Earlier, he served as Chief Technology Officer at LendingClub, leading product, engineering, operations, and IT for a pioneering digital finance platform. He also worked with Change Healthcare as CTO & SVP of Product Development while holding the additional responsibility of Interim CIO, overseeing platforms that processed over $1.5 trillion in healthcare claims annually and driving applied AI, analytics, payments, and identity management initiatives.
At Uber, Thiagarajan was a Principal Engineer for Core Transportation Platform Services, where he played a vital role in building and scaling Uber’s global mobility infrastructure. Before this, he held senior roles at Skyhigh Networks (acquired by McAfee) and as an advisory board member at Niara (acquired by HPE), contributing to advances in cloud security and analytics.
His earlier career includes senior leadership at Google in its Motorola Mobility division, where he led mobile and cloud services deployed on over 100 million devices worldwide; at Yahoo, where he pioneered large-scale big data and analytics platforms; and nearly nine years at Microsoft, where he drove engineering across Windows Live, consumer internet systems, and enterprise integration solutions. He began his career at Informix and conducted advanced computing research at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
